Ms. Delia Francis Henderson of L. P. Bailey Memorial Highway, Halifax, died on Thursday, Sept. 14, at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 95.
Ms. Henderson was born in Halifax County on April 24, 1922 to the late Mr. Albert Henderson and Mrs. Ada Crews Henderson.
She was a member of Banister Hill Christian
Methodist Episcopal Church and for many years worked in Washington, D.C. and Alexandria before returning to Halifax County.
Ms. Henderson is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Frances Tucker (Wayne) of Gretna and Ms. Cheryl Henderson (Shane) of Alexandria; two sons, Mr. Harvey Henderson (Venus) and Mr. Daryl Henderson (Francine), all of Halifax; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Florine Henderson, of Alexandria; a very special cousin, Ms. Mattie Mae Quarles, of Halifax; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Mr. Alvin E. Henderson Sr. and Mrs. Sharon H. Stevens, and her siblings, Catherine, James, Mae Ella and Henry Henderson.
Funeral services for Ms. Delia Francis Henderson will be Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. at Banister Hill Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with Rev. Matthew Richardson III officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Public viewing for family and friends will be Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home, South Boston.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 7055 L.P. Bailey Memorial Highway, Halifax.
