FEDERALSBURG — Nelson G. Toft of Federalsburg passed away on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, at his home. He was 52.
He was born on April 6, 1965, in Anne Arundel County, Md., the son of the late William C. Toft and Ellen Singleton Toft.
“A Jack of all trades” over the years, Nelson worked for Nanticoke Homes, Ayers Electric, Allen Family Foods and AAA Transportation transporting patients to their treatments and appointments prior to his illness.
He served in the fire company with Anne Arundel County since the age of 16. He later served Hurlock Volunteer Fire Company for more than 30 years earning the title of “lifetime member.” Most of all, he just loved serving in the fire department.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. He also supported the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens’ teams, as he loved a good ballgame. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and his in-laws for Saturday dinners.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Malisa French Toft of Federalsburg; a daughter, Sierra Short and her husband Robert of Laurel, Del.; and one son, Nelson Toft Jr. of Federalsburg; one grandson, Waylon Short; his mother- and father-in-law, Bonnie and Leroy French of Greenwood, Del.; his two dogs, Abby and Jake; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Taylor, and a brother, William Toft Jr.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at noon at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with the Rev. Howard “Buddy” Dunn officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon at the Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in his memory be made to the Framptom Funeral Home, 216 N. Main St., Federalsburg MD 21632 to defray funeral costs.
