Gladys “Pauline” Johnson, 95, of Myersville, Md., died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, at Somerford Place in Hagerstown.
She was the wife of Basil L. Johnson, who preceded her in death.
Born in Wolfsville, Md., on Jan. 2, 1922, she was a daughter of Elmer J. and Mary Kline Delauter, who preceded her in death.
In early years, she enjoyed being a homemaker and later was employed as a food-service worker by the Frederick County (Md.) Public School System until her retirement.
She was a member of Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, Myersville.
Surviving are three children, Deborah Ahalt (Daniel) of Columbia, Md., Pam Gouker (Michael) of Hagerstown and Timothy Johnson (Teri) of Falling Waters, W.Va.; two grandsons, Benjamon Gouker (Kimberly) of Sykesville, Md., and Joshua Gouker (Lindsey) of Durham, N.C.; and two great-grandsons, Cash and Wells Gouker. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Dorothy Lewis of Myersville, Donald Delauter of Southern Pines, N.C., George Delauter of Jefferson, Md., Gene Delauter of Hagerstown, Beverly Delauter of Frederick, Md., and Clark Delauter of Sabillasville, Md.; three aunts, Olive Ross, Vera Morgan and Norma Biser; and 25 nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by the following brothers and sister: Paul Delauter, Joseph Delauter, Thomas Delauter, Francis Delauter and Phyllis Bidle.
The family will receive friends at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home in Middletown, Md., on Tuesday, Aug. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, 11301 Meeting House Road, Myersville. The Rev. Karen Grossnickle will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the cemetery fund of Grossnickle COB or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
