Bernice Corrine “Bernie” Beaver Grandstaff, 80, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Hagerstown Health Care Center.
Born Sunday, Sept. 20, 1936, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of George C. Beaver Sr. and Teresa A. (Murphy) Beaver, who preceded her in death.
She was a 1954 graduate of St. Mary High School in Hagerstown.
She was previously employed by Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown and retired from Washington County Hospital, now Meritus Medical Center, after 31 years of service, where she worked in the admission office as an insurance verifier and cashier.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hagerstown.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, James K. “Jim” Grandstaff, whom she married Jan. 23, 1955. She also is survived by five daughters, Debra Frame and husband, Craig, of Germantown, Md., Kathy Hostetter and husband, Warren, of Hagerstown, Julie Rippeon and fiancé, James Arney, of Myersville, Md., Patti Doyle and husband, Leonard, of Hagerstown, and Jamie Calandrelle and husband, Mike, of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren, Amanda Burdette and husband, William, Scott Gilliam and wife, Wendy, Heather Doyle, Tonya Kettells and husband, Kris, Jennifer Burke and husband, Matthew, Andrew Calandrelle, Stephanie Doyle, Mary Rippeon and fiancé, Travis Beard, and Amy Calandrelle; great-grandsons, Dustin Burdette and Lucas Kettells; two sisters, Teresa “Ellie” Sirbaugh and Dorothy “Dottie” Cooper; two brothers, James M. Beaver Sr. and David E. Beaver Sr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Helen E. Ruck, Marie C. Baker, Regina C. Beaver, Rosalie “Rose” Thompson and Delores “Dee” Wyand; and brother, George C. Beaver Jr.
Services were held Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
The family received friends at the funeral home Friday, July 14, 2017.
Interment was in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
