Virginia F. Glad, 94, formerly of Canton passed away at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at the Alden Courts Assisted Living in Aurora.
She was born Nov. 5, 1921, in Cuba to Carl and Winnie (Harris) Ellis. Virginia married Phillip Glad Jan. 18, 1941, in Lewistown. He preceded her in death March 10, 2001.
Also preceding her death were her parents and two brothers, Robert Ellis and Harris “Pete” Ellis.
Surviving are three children, Judith Ann (Constantin) Loghides of Yuma, Ariz., Phyllis Diane Fletcher of Montgomery and Valorie Flo (Robert) Jagodzinski of Batavia; seven grandchildren, Paige, Becky, Nick, Adam, Jeremy, Vanessa and Alison; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Virginia worked at Romeoville School District for 11 years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of D.A.R. Canton Chapter and was the family historian and traced lineage for the Glad, Ellis, Lutz and Miller families.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 16 at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton, where visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
