Robert Eugene “Bob” Baylor, 84, formerly of Canton, passed away Sept. 21, 2015, at the V.A. in Des Moines, Iowa.
He was born Feb. 9, 1931, in Canton to Lyle “Pop” and Elsie Perdue Baylor. He first married Theresa M. Isenbart June 27, 1953, in Wichita, Kan. She died Feb. 4, 1981. He then married Edith Miles June 25, 1981, in Colorado Springs, Colo. She died June 12, 2006, in Ankeny.
He is survived by three sons, Robert of Canton, Gregory (Kathy) of Napa, Calif., and David of Orange, Calif.; and three daughters, Deborah (Jay) Dennison of Franklin, Va., Elizabeth (Robert) Guillory of Anchorage, Alaska, and Deanna Baylor of West Des Moines, Iowa. He is also survived by one stepson, Elmer Miles of Winterset, Iowa; three stepdaughters, Beth Adams of Edwardsville and Cathy Geerlings and Marilyn Smerwood, both of West Des Moines; and several grandchildren and stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; his brother, Jerry Baylor; and one stepdaughter, Cindy.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 28 years of service. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Operative Masonic Lodge 308 in Polk City, Iowa, for many years.
A committal service with military honors was held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Littleton, Colo.
