Krohn, LaWanda L. (Turner)

LaWanda L. Krohn, 79, of Knoxville, Illinois, passed away at 6:47 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois.
LaWanda was born on July 21, 1936, in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Vern and Doyne (Wiegert) Turner. She married Franklin Krohn on Nov. 5, 1955, in Galesburg, Illinois. They were married for 27 years. Franklin preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents; Vern and Doyne Turner, and her sister; Jeanie Stake.
She is survived by her three children, Kathy (and Terry) Pool of Fort Myers, Florida, Tom (and Shelly) Krohn of Dale, Texas, and Tim (and Gemma) Krohn of Knoxville, Illinois; four grandchildren, Erin Olszewski, Sara Pool, Shane Greenfield, Andrew Krohn; two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Alex; and two siblings, Patty Bruner of Oquawka, Illinois, and Jim (Trudy) Turner of Knoxville, Illinois.
She worked 25 years at Jumers in Galesburg and was well known throughout the community. After retirement she worked at the Knox County Nursing Home. LaWanda enjoyed golfing, reading, the riverboat, “Words with Friends” and being with her grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois. The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life gathering following the visitation at the Knoxville United Methodist Church.
