Frank J. “Digger” Muhich

Frank J. “Digger” Muhich, 89, of Granville passed away Jan. 27, 2016, in the Illinois Veterans Home at La Salle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Granville. The Rev. Patrick DeMeulemeester will officiate. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Granville, with full military honors by Granville American Legion and the VFW.

Visitation will be 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday in Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville.

“Digger” was born Nov. 22, 1926, in Mark to Frank and Mary (Kerosic) Muhich.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1945 to 1952 during World War II and in the Korean Conflict at Panama Canal. “Digger” was promoted to staff sergeant and served in the Military Police.

He was a utility man for Lone Star Cement Co. and worked there until he retired.
Survivors include his sister, Elizabeth “Betty” (Lonnie) Napier of Ladd; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Skutt; and three brothers, Anton Muhich, William Muhich and Daniel Muhich.

Pallbearers will be Frank Alan Skutt, Eugene Skutt, Richard R. Weide, Rodnie Weide, Lonnie Napier, Kenny Weide and Kevin Weide.
