Esther A. Bayston, 95, of Cullom, passed away at 3 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at Heritage Manor, Normal.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cullom, with Pastor Mauricio Vieira officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Cemetery, Cullom.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday.
Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Cullom, has charge of arrangements.
Esther was born Feb. 10, 1920, in Piper City, a daughter of John Alfred and Olive E. (Perkins) Carlson. She married Eldon H. Bayston on July 23, 1939, in Chatsworth. He preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1995.
Surviving are two daughters, Donnabelle (Jim) Frantz, Heyworth, Helen (Carl) Spengler, Rockford; one son, Gary (Wha) Bayston, Loves Park; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Evelyn Watson of Bulpitt.
Her parents; a daughter, Debra; and three sisters, Ruth Vaughn, Florence Gerdes and Lena Carlson, also preceded her in death.
Esther was a graduate of Piper City High School and worked at the Fox Center in Dwight for many years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Esther enjoyed playing cards and was an avid Cubs fan. She loved gardening and especially growing African violets. Esther enjoyed cooking and collecting recipes and spending time with her family.
