Dorothy J. Scott, 89, of Dwight, passed away at 2:55 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at Morris Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hager Memorial Home, Dwight. Pastor Lance Leeds will officiate. Burial will take place at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the memorial home in Dwight and one hour prior to the funeral Thursday, also at the memorial home.
Dorothy was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Dwight, to Edward and Mary (Martin) Oelschlager. She married Donald E. Scott on Nov. 7, 1951, in Dwight at the United Methodist Church. He survives in Dwight.
Dorothy is also survived by her sons, Daniel Scott, Russell (Kathy) Scott, Ronald (Pam) Scott, all of Dwight; her daughter, Rita (Patrick) Joyce of Essex; her grandchildren, Brian (Whitney) Scott, Kenny (Mandi Foster) Scott, Patrick (Ashley) Rafferty, Jenni (Aaron) Wise and Collin Joyce; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister, Frances Wietrzyhowski.
Her parents; her daughter, Frances Starlene Rafferty; and two grandchildren, Jimmy Scott and Katelyn Joyce, preceded her in death.
Dorothy was a leader of the Chit Chat Club. She was Lioness of the Year in 1977 for the State of Illinois. She worked at a veterans’ hospital and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed social activities at Cardiac Rehab in Streator and loved to play bingo.
Memorials in Dorothy’s honor may be made in lieu of flowers to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
