Charles P. Kilcoin, 72, of rural Preemption, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, Minn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Matherville. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery, Viola. Visitation will be held at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola, on Friday, Jan. 22, from 4-7 p.m., with rosary recited at 7:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for St. John’s Cemetery.
Charles was born May 29, 1943, in Moline, a son of Lawrence and Myrtle Hicks Kilcoin. He was a 1961 graduate of Sherrard High School. On April 28, 1962, he married Kathleen Slavish at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Aledo.
For 40 years, Chuck worked as a tool and die maker with Farmall and Navistar, retiring in 2004. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Matherville. Chuck was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Notre Dame fan, and enjoyed attending Notre Dame football games. In his spare time he loved to golf or spend time with family, especially his grandkids.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathleen Kilcoin; children and grandchildren, Jim Kilcoin and Alexis, Tim (Kelley) Kilcoin and twins, Colin and Ethan, Rick (Chris) Kilcoin and Sydney, Aidan and Liam, Monica (Brian) Lodwig and Kyla, Conner and Rita, Nicole (Angel Villalba) Kilcoin and Searc, and Karena (James Skalsky) Kilcoin; and brothers, Harold Moffitt and Tom Kilcoin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Moffitt.
