Barbara J. Shoop, 76, of Pontiac, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Tjardes Health Care Center of Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac.
Private family services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac, where Rev. Tom Goodell of the First United Methodist Church in Pontiac officiated. Burial was at Southside Cemetery in Pontiac.
Barbara was born June 29, 1939, in Pontiac, a daughter of Ellis and Pauline (Bundy) Elrod. She married Vincent L. Shoop on Nov. 7, 1958, in Pontiac. They had just over 57 wonderful years together.
She is survived by their two daughters, Carol (Eric) Smith, Lakewood, Colo. and Linda Shoop of Brighton, Colo; a grandson, Avery Smith; and one sister, Ruth (Ron) Carr, Mt. Vernon.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Barbara was educated in the Pontiac schools. She went to work for Country Companies for 25 years, off and on, where she did secretarial work, retiring officially in 1997.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pontiac her whole life.
Barbara was a loving wife, mom, grandma, sister and friend who will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
