Albina “Bina” Rudow, 90, of Bloomington, formerly of Pana, passed away peacefully at 7:47 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015 in Normal.
She was born December 8, 1925 in Nokomis, IL, daughter of Guiseppe and Anna Lardi Monti. They moved to Pana, IL, where she later met and married her high school sweetheart, Gene Rudow on June 29, 1948 in Pana.
Surviving are two daughters, Renetta (Terry) Cochran, Bloomington, and Jeanie Sartori, Manteno; three grandchildren, Stephanie (Fil) Sanchez, Bolingbrook; T.J. (Taylor) Cochran, Punta Gorda, Fla.; and Rich (Debbie) Sartori, Fort Lewis, Olympia, WA.; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers and a son-in-law, Rick.
Bina graduated from ISNU in Normal with a teaching degree in May of 1948. We were lucky to have a stay-at-home mom until the family moved to Bloomington in 1963. She substitute taught and later became administrative assistant to BJHS principal, Mr. Bob Knight. A “temporary” position that she retired from after 20 years of service.
She continued serving others by volunteering at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center for 26 years. Other activities included Girl Scout leader, traveling, reading, playing cards and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Of course, her biggest love was watching the grandchildren in all of their activities.
Bina was deeply rooted in her faith and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bloomington, with Rev. Ric Schneider officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pana, following a visitation from 10:30 to 11:30 on Wednesday at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home, Pana.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or OSF St. Joseph Foundation, both in Bloomington, IL.
