Betty Joyce Stephens, 85, of Carrollton, Georgia, died Thursday, September 14, 2017. She was born March 26, 1932, in Fulton County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Clarence Johnson and the late Gertrude Childers Johnson.
She was a homemaker and a member of Roopville Road Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Stephens; sisters, Evelyn Montgomery and Barbara Sanders; and brothers, Neil Johnson, Jerry Johnson, and Eddie Johnson.
Survivors include her husband, James Stephens of Carrollton; daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Bruce Coogler of Carrollton and Marie and David McKee of Ellijay; daughter-in-law, Gail Stephens of Carrollton, sisters and brothers-in-law, JoAnn Hobgood of Newnan, Dianne and Bill Manley of Fairburn, Glenda and Bob Walls and Brenda Larue, all of Villa Rica, and Shelia & Bill Allen of Douglasville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cleveland and Joyce Johnson of Snellville and Mark and Melba Johnson of Fairburn; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Sunday, September 17, at 3 p.m. at Roopville Road Baptist Church with Dr. Stephen Peeples officiating. Burial will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens. Those serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Hobgood, Brian McGuire, Reed Johnson, Drew Johnson, Chuck Johnson, and Jake Denney.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service.
