Walter Robert Whitehill

June 28, 1952 – September 13, 2017

Palm Bay, Florida

Walter Robert Whitehill, of Palm Bay, FL, formerly of Onarga, IL, passed peacefully in his sleep into the arms of his Savior on September 13, 2017.

He was born on June 28, 1952 to Melba and Walter Whitehill. He is survived by his wife Angela Whitehill, children Angela (Kenneth) Johnson and Christopher Whitehill (Erika), grandchildren Nicolas, Caitlynn, and Evelynn Johnson, sisters Cathy Gunn and Bette Block, seven nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews, former wife Betty, many other family around the US who love and miss him.

Walter was passionate about service to his fellow man – serving as Special Forces Green Beret in Vietnam and as a police officer on local and state levels for over thirty years in Illinois. He retired to Florida in 2010 to enjoy the sun and waves.

He lived life fully and passionately, indulging in many hobbies – fishing, hunting, wood carving, reloading, boating, music, shooting sports and more. He was a dedicated and passionate protector of his family.

Walter rests easy now with his beloved dogs Rascal and Ricky. He was a friend to some, a hero to many, and to those who knew him best, a force larger than life.
