MCGEACHY C. Park McGeachy, Jr., D.D.S., passed away January 10, 2016. He was 90 years old. Park was born in Arcadia, FL to Mac and Thelma McGeachy. He attended Winter Haven High School where he was elected President of his sophomore, junior and senior classes. Park served his country in World War II in the U.S. Army’s Infantry Replacement Center at Camp Hood, TX (now Fort Hood). He attended college at Emory at Oxford to earn a pre-dental degree before going on to Emory University in Atlanta where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery. While a senior in dental school, Park met his beloved late wife Dot. Together, with the help of Mr. Pam White, they opened Park’s dental practice on St. John’s Avenue. During his 43-year career, he served as President of the Jacksonville Dental Society and President of the Duval County Dental Research Clinic. Park loved his profession and his patients and his patients loved him. After retiring, Park was able to enjoy more time with family (including his dog Winston), his many wonderful friends and hobbies. His favorite hobby was golf – playing golf (at least 3 times each week), watching golf and talking about golf. Park was an honorary life member at Timuquana Country Club. In addition to playing golf, he was a frequent visitor to the fitness center and a regular at the Friday Night Group dinners where he would share his latest jokes. Other activities he enjoyed were listening to music, dancing, painting, reading and fishing. Park was a faithful member of Riverside Avenue Christian Church for 63 years. Over the years, he served as Vice-Chairman of the General Board, a Deacon, taught the high school youth in Sunday school and sang in the choir. Park was a genuinely caring person, a man of integrity, well-respected, kind, funny, loyal, compassionate and a snappy dresser. He was a blessing to all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Our loss is truly heaven’s gain. Park was pre-deceased by his parents, brother Jack and wife Dot. He is survived by his daughter Dean Fuller (Tim), son Collis McGeachy (Debbie), nephew Roy McGeachy (Allison) and grandnephews and grandnieces. A celebration of Park’s life will be held on Monday, January 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Avenue Christian Church, 2841 Riverside Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
