BATEH Mary Issa Bateh, November 6, 1933 – January 13, 2016, resident of Jacksonville, Florida. Ms. Bateh was born in Ramallah, Palestine, to Khaleel and Hilweh Bateh. She married Issa Abraham Bateh in 1952 and together, they moved to Gainesville while he attended the University of Florida for undergraduate and graduate school at the the College of Pharmacy. While there, she developed her love of Gator sports, especially football. She had been an avid Gator fan in excess of 60 years. They later moved to Jacksonville where they raised their four children: Julia Ann, Abraham, Linda and Michael. Ms. Bateh had a very strong Christian faith and loved her church tremendously. For forty years she and her family were parishioners of Assumption Catholic Church. After moving to the Baymeadows area, she also called Holy Family Catholic Church her parish home. As a dedicated Catholic, she found joy and peace in attending mass and being close to Christ. Anyone that knew her would agree that Mary was dedicated to the Church, her husband, Issa, and her family. Ms. Bateh was a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ramallah American Club of Jacksonville. She was dedicated to remaining physically active and was a member of the HEART Gym for over 30 years until she passed. She so valued and enjoyed her many friendships made there over the years. She was a dear mother-in-law to Tayseer Farmand, Renee Bajalia Bateh, the late James Bajalia, and Susan Jaber Bateh. She was a doting grandmother to her eleven grandchildren: Cheryl Farmand Leddy (Patrick), Amanda Farmand Smith (Nick), Brandon Farmand, Taylor Bateh, Alexander Bateh, James Bajalia, Kennar Bajalia, Laith Bajalia, Austin Bateh, Noelle Bateh and Mason Bateh; and an adoring great grandmother to four great grandchildren: Nathaniel Nate, Evelyn , Paul Whit and Henry. She was a loving sister to Elen Farmand, Salwa Bateh, the late Leila Rabah, the late Adla Bateh and to her late brothers, Joseph and James Bateh. After the passing of her beloved soul mate, Issa, almost ten years ago, Ms. Bateh has now joined him in heaven where they remain united together in eternal peace. Visitation for family and friends will take place on Sunday, January 17, 2016, at 7:15 p.m., with a rosary service commencing at 8:00 p.m. at Assumption Catholic Church, 2403 Atlantic Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida, 32207. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 18, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church.
