Cora Elizabeth Barnes, 91, of Panama City, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at her home.
Cora was born in Mobile, AL, and lived in Panama City since 1946. She began in sales with J. C. Penney, and retired after working over 25 years with Sears, Roebuck and Company. Cora loved traveling, cruising, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a faithful member and greeter at Panama City First Assembly of God.
Cora was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, John T. Barnes; her parents Dan and Plevy Killebrew; and her brothers, Noah (Beulah), James (Faye), Ivan (Wordean), Wayne, and William (Audrey) Killebrew.
Survivors include her children, Dwan Barnes (Gwen) and Nyoka Corlett, all of Panama City; her brothers, J. D. Killebrew (Audrey) of Bountiful, UT and Jerry Killebrew (Janis) of Valrico, FL; a sister, Nina Wilson (Wynn) of Panama City; grandchildren, John Corlett (Miranda) and Rodney Barnes; step grandchildren, Terri Gainer, Tracy Berg (Guy) and Angie Warren; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Jessica Corlett and Cameron Barnes (Regina); a step-great-granddaughter, Riley Ann Berg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 14, 2016, at the Panama City First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Phil Edwards and Rev. Tony Teas officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Serving as pallbearers are James Little, Homer Cutchins, Gary Certalich, Ron Mallory, Lenny DiBitetto, and Eugene Thron.
