Bear Valley Springs resident Zeda Mae Moser passed away from natural causes on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016. She was 91.
Zeda was born in Manitou, Okla., on May 10, 1924. In 1936, along with many other victims of the Oklahoma Dust Bowl, Zeda and other family members migrated to Glendale. Zeda attended and graduated from Glendale Hoover High School.
In 1942, Zeda enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps and served until the end of World War II. After the war, Zeda met and married James Beeley, and resided in La Crescenta where in 1943, she gave birth to her only child, Sheryl L. Beeley. In 1960, the family moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, where she began a 27-year career working in the Operations Division of Pan American Airlines. During her career, she traveled extensively, seeing countries on every continent.
After retirement, Zeda moved to Whidbey Island, Wash., enjoying her retirement years. In 2005, Zeda moved to Tehachapi to be near her daughter and family.
In 2013, Zeda was selected by the Kern County Honor Flight program to visit Washington, D.C., where she and her daughter Sherri were able to see the various war memorials dedicated to those who served our nation.
Zeda is survived by her daughter, Sherri Grace, and her son-in-law, Gil Grace. She is also survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all living in the Southern California area.
Zeda will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who were able to visit with her over the recent Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s holidays. She requested that no services be held for her, in hopes that she be remembered in her active life.
