Longtime Ridgecrest resident Samuel James Coy Knopf died Jan. 10, 2016 in Ridgecrest as a result of an accident. He was 25.
Sam was born Oct. 18, 1990 in Bakersfield and was previously a resident of Olancha and Inyokern. He was a part of the merchandising execution team with Home Depot and a mechanic with Cerro Coso Community College in Ridgecrest.
Sam loved to hunt, fish and anything associated with the outdoors. He loved his family and friends and was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Sam is survived by his mother, Emily Deeds of Ridgecrest; Father Steve Knopf of Pahrump, Nevada; stepfather Don Deeds of Ridgecrest; brother Cody Knopf; sister Shelbee Knopf; sister Macey Deeds; sister Chelsea Deeds; brother Donald Deeds; brother Christian Knopf; aunt Patti Holmes; uncle Chris Knopf; grandparents Jean and Clayton of Bakersifeld; grandparent Richard Deeds; sister Natalie Deeds; brother William Haynes; best friends Morgan and Matt; Uncle Bill Perucci, aunt Jana Pierucci and family of Bakersfield and uncle Mike Collins, aunt Laura Collins and family of Hanford.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23 at Crossroads Church in Ridgecrest. Bill Corley will officiate. Burial will be at Desert Memorial Park in Ridgecrest. Visitation with family will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
