Robert “Bob” Hamilton, 87, passed away peacefully in his home on Jan. 10, 2016. Robert was born May 4, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to John Thomas Hamilton and Ella (Scott) Winifred, both of whom preceded him in death. He had one brother, John, who also passed in 2003.
Robert was a veteran of WWII, Korean and the Vietnam wars and served from Nov. 2, 1944, until Sept. 1, 1969, in the Army, Navy and retired from the Air Force as a flight engineer with flight group 60th MAC at Travis Air force Base.
He then worked as an oil refinery operator at Standard Oil, animal control officer in Lake Tahoe, Solano County mail clerk and auto parts truck driver.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Josefin; daughter, Joella and husband, Clay Benkelman, of Bigfork, Montana; son, Robert (Bob Jr.) G. and wife, Irene Majale Hamilton, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
A service with full military honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.
