Matthews, Roland George was born on April 2, 1939 in Dayton, Ohio. He peacefully passed in his sleep on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at his home in Laguna Niguel, California. Roland served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from February 24, 1959 to March 1, 1963.
Roland met Helen, his wife, in the Spring of 1963 and married her on August 25th of that year.
Soon after he left the Marine Corps, Ron began working as a tool and dye apprentice which then led him into the printed electronic circuit industry. Due to Ron’s strong work ethic, discipline, motivation, and determination, he worked his way up within this industry. In the 80’s Ron founded the Corporation, Diceon Electronics Inc. The success of Diceon Electronics is due to the hard work and strong work ethic of Ron and his partner. He later retired in 1992. Ron was always an Entrepreneur at heart, and continued to be a very successful Venture Capitalist after he retired, investing in various companies and served as an advisor to many investment groups.
Ron loved to travel with his wife, family and friends. He had a passion for fishing, golfing, helping others, and was the “Rock” of his family. Nothing brought him more happiness than to have his wife, children and grandchildren around him. His love for travel was demonstrated through the annual trips Helen and he took with his children and grandchildren to Hawaii, which became an annual tradition.
Ron’s main focus in life has always been God, family and friends. Ron was a man of character and strong conviction, had spiritual strength, was humble, stoic, genuine, a man of integrity, kind in nature, extremely generous, loving, a great listener, inspirational, and a mentor to many.
Ron will always be known and remembered by many to have always put God and others before himself.
Ron was a founding member of St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church in Irvine, California. He was also an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and a member of Leadership 100.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Helen, whom he shared 52 wonderful years with. He is also survived by his son, Ron; daughter, Kristie; daughter-in-law, Cherise; son-in-law, Jamie; and his six grandchildren: Kayla, Kelsey, Katie, Isaiah, Christopher and Luke. May his memory be eternal!
