Larry Allen Shields, 64, of Lake Isabella, CA, succumbed suddenly to heart failure at Kern Valley Hospital on August 10, 2017.
Larry is survived by his wife, Donna of 17 years, daughters Jessica (Jamie) Kisor, Raquel (Jonathon) Pooley, granddaughter Ariel, grandson-to-be Eli, nephews Tom and Aaron (Tammy) Shields, and many loving extended family. Larry was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to all.
He loved God above all else and worked endlessly to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, even at the cost of his career as a counselor. Larry had the gift of teaching and took every opportunity to share his knowledge and his experiences. He enjoyed life and the people in it.
He had this amazing ability to see everyone equally, casting no judgment, rich or poor. He delighted in playing with his grand-daughter, spending quality time with family, the outdoors with picnics, fishing, hunting insects and reptiles, and sharing his wisdom of the world and how to overcome it thru the power of love and forgiveness. Larry was always faithful in prayer and would be there for you with encouragement whenever needed, speaking out of love and truth. He was a mentor to many, never proclaimed perfection but always strived to be a light in the darkness. While the angels are celebrating his return home, the world is a darker place now that he is gone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Raquel Shields, and his two brothers, Steven and Eddie Shields.
A special thank you to our family and friends for their care and support. Also, thank you to CCC for providing services and hospitality.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday September 30 at Crossroads Community Church, 235 N. China Lake Blvd., Ridgecrest, CA 93555. Pastor Bill Corley will be officiating.//?#You can find the complete original obituary on this website.
