Lance Raymond Hunter died unexpectedly in a tragic traffic accident on September 7th, 2017 in Ridgecrest, California at the age of 56.
Lance is survived by his wife Denice Hunter and son Logan Hunter of Ridgecrest, daughter and son-in-law Sydney and James Truesdale of Fairbanks, Alaska, mother Leilani Hunter and brother Loran Hunter of Ridgecrest, and sister LaRay Hunter-Ewaniszyk of Murphy, North Carolina. He is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Roy Garth Hunter of Ridgecrest.
Lance was born on March 15th, 1961 in Garden Grove, California to Roy and Leilani Hunter. He graduated from Sherman E. Burroughs High School in 1979. In 1983, he graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Industrial Psychology from Humboldt State University. He married his high school sweetheart, Denice Rickets in 1984. Together, they created their life in their hometown of Ridgecrest, California. Lance started his own construction business, Hunter Plastering, in 1989. In 1986, they gave birth to their first child, Logan Hunter. Four years later, in 1990, their daughter Sydney Hunter was born. His children remember him as a loving and supportive father who dedicated his life to providing for his family and enriching their futures. He was a simple man who enjoyed the simple things in life; spending time with his family and friends.
Lance loved hiking, fishing, camping, backpacking and yearned for the outdoors. He enjoyed golfing, going to concerts, attending Rams games with his friends and family, hard physical labor, and pool days with his buddies. He cherished spending quality time with his wife, who he was madly in love with after 33 years of marriage. He valued traveling to visit his daughter and exploring the High Sierras with his son.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, September 16th at 11:00 AM at All Faith Chapel, 02601 Blandy Ave, China Lake, California 93555. Reception will immediately follow the service at 151 E.
