Jensen, Gunnar Lynge

April 20, 1923 – December 27, 2015

Gunnar Lynge Jensen was born on Friday, April 20, 1923 in Frostrup, Denmark to Laura and Poul Jensen. Gunnar survived The Great Depression and World War II and earned several degrees while attending school in Demark, Canada and the United States. He started his career as a contractor and builder in Denmark; upon planting roots in California became a draftsman at UCLA.

Gunnar transferred to UCI and focused his career in Architecture and Facilities Management. He retired at 65 years old with over 40-years of service to the University of California School System.

Gunnar respected all life and lived it to the fullest. He loved being surrounded by his family and friends and foraged his own path while protecting and caring for all those he encountered.

Gunnar dedicated himself to the love of his life, Sonja M. Jensen; they were married Saturday, December 18, 1954 at the First Lutheran Church in Windsor Ontario, Canada.

Gunnar is survived by his daughter, Karin L. Jensen, son-in-law Richard Atkinson; son, Peter L. Jensen, daughter-in-law Jane C. Jensen; grandson, Paul L. Jensen; and brother, Christian Jensen.
