Flippen, Barbara Fitzpatrick, born October 17, 1934 and departed this life December 19, 2015. She was a life-long native-daughter and resident of Orange County, CA.
Barbara was born in Villa Park, California to Frank and Lucille Fitzpatrick, and she was the second daughter to be born to them. The family bought a home in Tustin, then in 1942 after the birth of their third daughter, Amy Jo, and while WWII raged on, they moved to peaceful Silverado Canyon. Barbara attended the little Silverado School and she was an excellent student and a fine athlete, even playing baseball on the Silverado School’s boy’s team. After graduating from Silverado School, she attended Orange Union High School and upon graduation there, she attended Fullerton College.
Barbara married Jerry Haley in 1956 and they lived in Orange where they were blessed with a daughter, Songi and a son, Aaron. Unfortunately, the marriage was brief and after the divorce, Barbara returned to Silverado Canyon to raise her children.
Some years later she met and married James Flippen of Orange, and they bought a home on Fellows Drive in Orange/Olive, where they remained for the duration of their lives. James passed in 1993 and Barbara remained in the home until ill health necessitated her move into an assisted care facility in Modjeska Canyon, near her sister, Amy Richards and her family there. Barbara loved her family and was a great friend to all who knew her. She will be missed.
Barbara is survived by her son, Aaron Haley; grandson, Daniel Haley; ganddaughter, Jessica Talstein with her husband Gary and their children; Barbara’s great grandchildren, Justin and Annabelle; grandson, Robert Linder, and his son, Ethan; her step-sons, James and Rod Flippen; her three siblings, Darlene Best, Amy Richards and Frank Fitzpatrick; along with brother-in-law, Rusty Richards; numerous loving nieces and nephews; Aunt Mable Underwood; and many cousins. Her head stone shall read: Barbara Fitzpatrick Flippen
Loving wife, Mother and Grandmother.
