Norma Amanda Diaz was born March 4, 1939, and entered into heaven January 7, 2016. Norma passed peacefully at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, Calif., surrounded by her loving family and friends. Norma was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sylvia Francisca Diaz (1961-2002), her son Jose Andres Diaz Sr. (1963-1982), and son Daniel Diaz (1970-1996). Norma was survived by her husband, Godofredo Espinoza Diaz; daughter, Francisca Leal Diaz; sons, Jorge Rafeal Diaz, Godofredo “Freddie” Diaz Jr., Jose Antonio “Tony” Diaz, and Angel Diaz; ten grandchildren, including Claudia B. Padilla, Fernando Leal Jr., Javier Leal, Jose Andres “Andy” Diaz Jr., Gerralynn Amanda Diaz, Katrina Diaz, Amarae Diaz, Aleczandria Diaz, Veronica Monique Sauceda and, Christian Bryan Casillas; and four great grandchildren. She is survived by three bothers Filiberto, Rigoberto and Rafael Celaya. Though gone from our sight, Norma will always live in the hearts and minds of her family and friends. Norma was a graduate of culinary arts from College of the Desert and utilized her cooking skills as an employee at the same college, then retired from Marriott Desert Springs Resort and Spa. She will be remembered for her radiant smile, warm personality, infectious sense of humor, and delicious home-made foods, especially her “famous” home-made salsa. One of her last wishes was to “Estar unidos juntos como familia” or to “Remain united together as family.” A viewing is scheduled for family and friends from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, January 19 and on Wednesday, January 20 from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Parks and Mortuaries, 82975 Requa Avenue, Indio, Calif. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 20 at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 45-299 Deglet Noor Street, Indio, Calif. Interment will follow immediately at Coachella Valley Public Cemetery, 82925 Avenue 52, Coachella, Calif.
