Wes passed away on January 21, 2016, with his children grandchildren and nieces by his side. His final days were spent surrounded by family as he fought to overcome the sudden onset of illness.
Born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to Robert James and Rose Othelia Carson. Beloved husband of Elena (who preceded him in death), and devoted father of Gloria (Gary) George, Daniel (who preceded him in death), Raymond (Julie) Carson, Kathy (Hank) Martinez, and Yvette (Ray) Martinez. Loving grandfather of Grant, Gregory, Breeana, Carlissa, Rae, Brandon, and Camille and the spark in his day, “Felicity” constantly by his side. Wes is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and most importantly his beloved niece Ruth Frausto. Wesley was the youngest of 14 children born to Robert and Rose and the last of their offspring to depart this earth.
Wes worked his way across the U.S. by railroad at a young age. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served as a jet engine mechanic crew leader. While stationed at Laughlin Air Base in Del Rio Texas, he met and pursued the love of his life, Elena. Later settling in San Jose, CA. Wesley spent 30 years working as a paint supervisor at Ford Motor Company in Milpitas.
Wes the “BBQ King” adored having family and friends over for a swim and a BBQ, the more the merrier! Wes loved gardening and grew an abundance of delicious tomatoes and zucchini providing them to friends and family every summer. He put his gardening skills and cow raising knowledge to good use for several years when he and Elena lived on a farm in Caldwell, Idaho. He freely shared his wealth of knowledge regarding automobiles and helped anyone with their own repairs. Wes, faithfully followed his Pittsburgh Steelers never missing a televised game. He cherished boisterous family card game nights and you could find him at Thunder Valley weekly, especially on double point days.
A service and celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 1 at Chapel of the Valley, 97 Vernon St. Roseville, CA. A Committal Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2 at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery 5810 Midway Rd., Dixon, CA.
