Mar. 9, 1923 – Dec. 31, 2015
Resident of Pleasant Hill
Fredda Calbeck passed away on the afternoon of New Year’s Eve, 12/31/15. Her caring and giving spirit touched many people during her lifetime.
Although she was born in Missouri, she spent most of her early years in Columbus, Ohio and received her degree from Ohio State. She met her husband while attending college and they married when he returned home from Germany at the end of WWII. She taught elementary school while her husband, Joe, finished getting his degree from Ohio State too. Raising five boys kept her very busy but she still found time to volunteer for various community programs, worked as crisis hot line counselor and a Stephen Minister. She loved gardening, cooking, sewing and singing in the choir.
Fredda lost her husband, who was the love of her life in 2006 and her youngest son Robert in 1974 but is survived by the other four sons, Jim Calbeck of Houston Texas, Bill Calbeck of Walnut Creek CA, Tom Calbeck of Lafayette CA and Don Calbeck of Martinez CA. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Robert, Brian, Cameron and Danielle. Fredda’s loving spirit, warm smile and quick witted humor will be missed by her family and all who came in contact with her.
Friends of Fredda are invited to a memorial service to be held on Monday, January 25th at the Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church, 49 Knox Dr., Lafayette CA at 3:00 P.M.
