Benson, David Alan

DAVID ALAN BENSON April 14, 1948 – January 24, 2016 David passed in Eureka January 24th at age 67. He was born in Washington state to Albert and Myrtle Benson and is immediately survived by his daughter Heather Ann, and Denny Mann of Folsom, and granddaughter Carter Ann Mann. David is survived by his brother Don, and Donene Benson. He was preceded by the passing of brothers Paul, Victor, Dennis, and sisters Norma White and Thelma Algeri. David attended Eureka High and College of the Redwoods. He became a highly talented builder forming Timberline Construction. In later years he was a foreman for Pierson Company. Dave built everything from family homes to commercial buildings, custom cabinets, specialty furniture and ran multiple crews. There was no aspect of building that David didn’t know . . . he could do it all. He was a fine and respected woodworker and craftsman. He loved all things outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed the “western way” devouring western themed books and film. He had a passion for duck hunting, fishing and deer hunting, and reveled in tinkering with cars. He still has his beloved vintage Triumph TR6 convertible and his instantly recognizable yellow Jeep. David leaves numerous family members including niece Laurie and Brendan McKenny and their daughters Jenna, Carli and Taylor, niece Debby and Tom Miller, niece Linda and Greg Scott and their daughters Karissa, Breanna and MaKayla, and niece Karen Baas and her daughters Katelyn and Ashlyn, and nephews Rick Benson, Randy Benson and Todd Benson and families. A special THANK YOU to David’s great and always loyal friends Larry Zerlang and Brian Barcot.
