Alice Louise (Elpers) Arthur Alice Louise (Elpers) Arthur was born in Logansport, IN on Feb. 22, 1927 and died at Brittany House in Long Beach on Jan. 2, 2016. She was the daughter of Helen and John Elpers and the sister of Jack, Marilyn Heaney, Joan Quaglio and Annette August. Alice and her husband John Arthur (deceased 2000) moved to Long Beach in 1954. Alice’s children are Jo Ann Bardeen (Tom), Robert (Susan) and Richard. She worked in her father’s butcher shop, sold linens in Beals Department Store, cashiered at Judy’s in Lakewood Center and managed a retail space in the Vault Antiques Mall. She was a tireless volunteer at St. Cyprian parish, especially enjoying being in charge of a dinner event or selling at a boutique. She treasured many friends through church, the game of bridge, the Red Hat Society, the National Association of Jim Beam Bottle & Specialties Clubs and countless other activities. She loved being grandmother to Tracy Wells (Jason), Jennifer Perez (Michael), Deborah Arthur (Neil Walker), Jeremy Young, Robert Arthur, Jr. (Jennifer Vorhes), Lorraine Bardeen (Beth) and Lia Lira (Cesar). Her great-grandchildren are Jackson Wells, Andrew and Gabriel Perez and Amelia and Oliver Rowe-Bardeen. Alice was an aunt to many nieces and nephews and their children. A Funeral Mass (11am) will be celebrated at St. Cyprian Catholic Church, 4714 Clark Ave., Long Beach on Weds., Feb. 3rd followed by lunch in the parish hall.
