Enrique C. Amio passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, August 4, 2017 of natural causes surrounded by his loving family. He will be remembered as a gentle and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Enrique was born in Manila, Philippines. During World War II, he served as a member of the United States Armed Forces in the Far East (USAFFE). After the war, he pursued his studies and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering. In 1960, he married his wife of 57 years, Ofelia. They have four children: Alvin, Benjamin (Mylene), Christopher (Sonia), and Dennis (Maricar). He is survived by his grandchildren Michelle, Moreen, Marian, Sophia, and Elizabeth as well as his nephews Roderick Fabian, Reus Fabian, and niece Charo Amio.
Enrique’s career took him all over the world. He took post graduate studies in Japan, India, and Sweden and attended various conferences all over the world representing the Philippines in over 30 countries. He won a Presidential Award of Excellence for inventing a machine that recycled waste plant products into paper.
In his later years, Enrique enjoyed the loving company of his family especially his youngest grandchildren. He kept himself mentally sharp by keeping up with technology and doing mind training exercises.
