April 4, 1922 — January 2, 2016

Aaron Willard West, 93, Bakersfield, was born in Collingworth County, Texas on April 4th, 1922, went home to be with his Lord January 2nd, 2016. He was preceded in death by his father Gadi Cornealous West and mother, Eunice Whitten West. Also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Jeanetta Jones West, sisters Eutha Simmons, Myetta Mansfield, Elva Kelley and brother Alvin West.

He is survived by his son, Waymond West and his wife Theresa; as well as his daughter Janice Smith and her husband Randall. He is also survived by his grandchildren Nathaniel West and Jeanetta Smith as well as Nathaniel’s wife Adriana and three great-grandchildren all of Bakersfield.

A veteran of World War II who served in the United States Navy, Aaron served in the South Pacific and fought in three major battles. After being honorably discharged in 1945, he entered the Pastoral Ministry and was ordained a Bishop in the Church of God of Prophecy. He served as Pastor for over fifty years in Texas, Oklahoma, and California including Bakersfield. His was a life of service based in his love and devotion to God, country and family. His was a life of significance and he will be greatly missed.

Memorial service scheduled 11 a.m., Sat., Jan. 9, Church of God of Prophecy, 2400 Morning Dr., Bakersfield. Visitation 1-5 p.m. Sun., Jan. 10, Mission Family Mortuary. Graveside 10:45 a.m. Mon., Jan. 11, National Cemetery, Arvin.
