SIERRA VISTA — Charles H. Dohoney, 83, longtime resident of Sierra Vista, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017 at home with his family by his side.
Charles was born on March 22, 1934 in Hillsboro, Texas to Charlie and Mary Mae (Webb) Dohoney. Charles proudly served for two years in the U.S. Army, before starting his long career in electronics and communication with the U.S. government. As a civil servant, his job had him traveling all over the world.
Charles met the love of his life, Ida Irene Bobbitt, and the two were married in Itasca, Texas on Dec. 22, 1954. He enjoyed time spent on his computer and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ida, one daughter, Nancy Bodenstadt and her husband Robert of Sierra Vista. Six grandchildren, Jason Kutscher and Cameron Bodenstadt of Austin, Texas, Jade Plante and Daniel Plante of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Lauren Sirola of Babson Park, Florida and Erin Kutscher of Sierra Vista. Also, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mary Dohoney, and his daughter, Vicky Plante in 2006.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017 at Southern Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1300 S. Buffalo Soldier Trail, Sierra Vista. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made in Charles’ name to Casa de la Paz Hospice, Sierra Vista, Arizona. Arrangements by Hatfield Funeral Home.
